The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover – I love this movie – Yes, the story is brilliant, the vision is breathtaking, and the acting is superb. Dame Helen freakin' Mirren - amazing, beautiful and breathtaking. Like it is with all food, it is not for everyone, perhaps even an acquired taste. It is a morality tale, it is grotesque. Having said that, I love it. It is Greenaway in top form. A beautiful piece rife w/ revenge, true love and food, delicious food. I cheer and cry, laugh and shriek.
